Pressing the buttons in either order should work, David. If your phone has separate buttons for volume up and down, the easiest way is to press both at once. If it is a rocker switch, a quick up/down or down/up should do it. I feel that the .25 second time interval is sufficient and that increasing it could lead to inadvertent muting. Have you tried activating the SqueezeCtrl option to mute on making or receiving a call? It works nicely.
