Mine too is a FreeNAS FULL installation and I also find the .pid file is left behind in /slimnas/var. As I mentioned earlier I am also missing the /slimnas/usr/www/services_slimserver_stop.php file which should run when FreeNAS shuts down. Could it be that this 'stop' file clears down the .pid file and because its missing / not happening the .pid gets left behind ? With a FreeNAS 'embedded' version all of this would happen in memory and so when an embedded version of FreeNAS shuts down the .pid file goes automatically ?
