Something Really Sexy for Her for Holloween:

Charles:
Maybe I should not reveal this about myself and our resident psychologist
may find the hidden meaning in admissions like this, but I'll say it
anyway. I have had thoughts about losing my mind - that is, my cognition
and awareness. If I developed dementia precox (if that is what is now
called alzheimers but when my grandmother could not remember even her
name, her condition was then called dementia), I might not worry about
death as much then because I do admit the finality of it all is a
frightening concept.
Yes, fecundity is the primary directive of all of us in order for
genetic survival although it is not important for our own survival. The
seed as you put it is the genetic code and the carrier of that code is
life in whatever form it takes. It that is the only purpose and I believe
it is the only purpose; not a directed purpose, but a purpose of survival
and programmed by natural selection and the admission is the wonderment of
what it might be to not have a capacity to think. If we were born without
cognition how much simpler it would be and certainly there would be no
depression because there would be no awareness of death and its finality.
As to the fecund human, that being the purpose of a replicator, then
homosexuality is a biological mistake and how can it then survive? It
cannot for long promulgate itself - but Homo sapiens have not long been
promulgating itself. The relative measurement of time seems long but it is
really short.
Many of the things we see are really delusions and illusions. Take a piece
of paper and look at it under a microscope and it is no longer smooth. To
an elephant a giraffe appears big but it is really tall; that is, it's
neck is long so it appears tall. Not such a good analogy, but you see my
point.
I think extinction is more than a possibility. I believe it is a distinct
probability because cultural memetics has and does little to cure the
defects of human aggressiveness, greed and of course, selfishness.
I'm not sure I would agree with you about Velikovsky. I'm not sure I would
agree with Velikovsky. All these things are memes and no doubt many ideas
survive as folk lure which may be partially true but the extent of
knowledge acquired in the last 3-4000 years must be 99% of all the
knowledge ever acquired with less than 1% being from any time forgotten.
It is not that the memes don't survive but they are so altered we cannot
decipher what is left and what is now a meme is what has come to us by way
of this ancient to modern history in the time noted. That is
what I think anyway (right or
wrong?).
