Something Really Sexy for Her for Holloween:

---

Do I know you? Are you in Orlando or St Petersburg? I attended some
meetings sponsored by CPUSA years ago in both places and knew quite a few
of the members. I joined but there was a problem because I owned a book
store at the time and was told by a local head of the club that the
pornography would have to go. I disagreed. Under the circumstances, I
needed the income from porn to support carrying lesbian and gay literature
and radical left material which did not sell well at all but I could not
afford to keep ordering them unless I had some way to pay for all of it
and that is what magazines like Hustler and others did pay for. It was
also a time when combinations and major corporations were getting into the
book discount business and they were killing us. Eventually I did go out
of business because of the competition from the chains.

My membership in the CP lasted one day (g). Then the CP fell apart during
that period after the fall of the Soviet Union and the Committee of
Correspondance became attractive for many former members. The CofCC is no
more. The CP has since changed any of its ideas and rules and is not
nearly as stringent and many of my friends were involved. I support them
and always voted for Gus Hall (g). But I'm not exactly a vanguardist. My
start was with DSA where I was a charter member. I was also involved with
Hashomer Hatzair.

Anyway, I just thought I might know you? And I do believe as you do that
the only hope is some form of socialism. Marx led the way and pointed out
the flaws in capitalism. There have been setbacks and human nature tends
to be greedy but that may be more nurture than nature and cultural memes
can be altered. I'm all for it.

Thanks for your very good comments.

After the military takeover of the CIA (it is happening now) and Bush's
cancellation of elections in 2008 (there will be a national emergency
before November) there will be many more calling for a revolution but I
fear they will be prepared for it and are preparing for it now. I'm
getting too old for all this.

In Solidarity,

Hank Roth
