Militias is your NEXT guess?
OK let's play your silly game to its conclusion.
The President is Commander in Chief.
Now what.
Two questions:
1. Where is his CONSTITUTIONAL power/authority to "bomb other countries" (or whatever semantics you are hanging your argument upon)?
2. When he does "bomb other countries" and those other countries see such acts of war as an act of war ... hasn't he circumvented AIS8C11? Now WHY would those old farts that wrote the Constitution -- who were rightly concerned about such power held by one individual -- provided such a path? (hint: they didn't)

- Except you PLUCKED what you wanted (which still does not provide the power/authority you claim).
- The ENTIRE sentence is:
- The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;
- Note the QUALIFIER "when called into actual service".
- The CONGRESS does this.
- The AIIS2C1 nonsense was already refuted.
- Any other guesses?

- I repeat, "Whether You Like It~~Or Don't Like It;  It Is~~What It Is" and the words are quite clear, concise and distinct. Article II,  Section II:
- "The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States,"
- (Please Take Note Of The Commas!)
- As compared to Article I, Section VIII; Â Paragraph XI:
- "To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water";
- (Emphasis added....I hope this helps you!)

- Point to the Article, Section and Clause or Amendment you imagine provides the President with the Power/Authority to bomb/attack/whatever you want to call it (what occurred recently regarding Syria)
- All your other machinations are wholly irrelevant.
- That you (again) fail to provide such merely affirms reality.

- Good Morning Michael;
- Although you're attempting to cloud the issue, and play a game of semantics:  I'll play!
- There's a distinction between what one may term, "An Act of War"; versus, "Waging War"; and specifically, the ability to "Declare War";  and there's nothing in the Constitution that prohibits the Commander in Chief, (Again, See Article II Section II) from taking what the Commander in Chief mandates, concludes or proscribes as requisite steps for the safety and security of the Nation and the American People. It has always beeen considered in our Nation, (stemming from the British Common Law) that the very nature and "Conduct of War" is an "Executive Power" granted to the President....Period.
- As I pointed out yesterday, for Congress to place some restriction or quagmire on the President from taking such steps as President Trump engaged in last week in Syria; or to deny the President the ability to function as the Commander in Chief and to direct our military into necessary engagements in order to preserve National Security; Â as per the dictates of Article II Section II, would be Unconstitutional; and a misreading of the Constitution or the intent by our Forefathers.
- Troop Strength is not at all a factor in this;  (allthough I, in a sense referenced that yesterday);  what is required is the "Engagement of War"; (Or the "Declaration of War";  which has not happened in this situation, and those of you who argue that the President's "Act" was somehow Unconstitutional continue to fail to acknowledge that!);  which entails a purpose; goal, and requires "Multiple Acts" other than a one time, one hour missile engagement! Granted,  thethe Trump Administration's actions in Syria last week may be construed as an aggressive military engagement; or even an "Act of War"; but it was not a, "Declaration of War"; and far from meeting the definition of "Waging War".
- It's just not, and for you to not be able to fathom this, in my opinion is quite telling.

- There is no continuous ongoing engagement or conflict;  there's no designnation of troops or anything more than a one time engagement which falls into the powers designated to the President under Article II Section 2 of the Constitution.  To interpretret the action by Presiddent Trump in any other fashion would literally be Unconstitutional....
