bruce, What exactly are you saying here? That the republican voters switched and voted for Obama because they thought he was less liberal than Obama OR that they stayed home in droves and did not vote at all rather than vote for "liberal McCain? You seen the voter turn-out figures from the 2008 election? I was still considering voting for McCain right up untill the time of that awfull blunder of nominating Gov. Palin, THAT turned be solid for Obama. You boys need to learn about degree. No such thing as "a liberal" or "a conservative". For example: McCain is less conservative than Gov. Palin but more conservative that President Obama who is less conservative than myself. That absolutist, there is only black/white, thinking is going to be the death of you yet.
