Well Jim, I didn't expect such a stimulating and yet civil debate on the subject. Thanks for opening it up! I'll start with something simple that I'm sure will evoke a strong response from you. Mohammed killed no one. More people have been killed in the name of Jesus, than in the name of Mohammed. Much of this is due to the fact that Christianity has simply been around longer and has been better financed & polltically influential. It has been called a sin to display rage and violence in a worship. It has been called a sin to deny the presence of God as being everywhere, at all times. It has been called a sin to drink alcohol or to faclilitate others getting drunk. In Jesus' time it was definitely a sin to break Jewish laws and traditions. Jesus sinned. There may have been extenuating circumstances but isn't that often the case?
The foundation of every Religion is to ignore the message, and worship the messenger as a way to separate themselves from others. The foundation of Christian Spirituality is simpler. It is to use the message and examples of Christ to accept everyone, to love everyone - even those your would call enemy, and to know you are not worthy to judge anyone.
