Gates is one of the better public intellectuals in the US... However this is not about academics but raw emotion, ego, and sense of personal & public power entitlement... Obama colored himself dumb by calling cops stupid & racist, especially as Gates WAS given preferred treatment as the charges were dropped after Gate's verbal abuse...
