"No," Alex replied wanting to say more. In fact, she wanted to announce
that
Nick didn't belong in Hell by any stretch of the imagination. Therefore the
Soulchaser's insistence on having him was ridiculous and a breach of his own
duty. However, she kept her mouth shut.
"Well," Julia asked, stipulating why she was asking in case the oily lawyer
decided to object "considering each human being is given a sense of right
and wrong so that we can chose whether we will live a life of Light or
darkness, do you believe Jimmy Boyle should have been sent to hell for
defending a woman in a train station or for jumping in at a later date and
refusing to let the Soulchaser take Nick's spirit?"
She couldn't help it and gave the Soulchaser a barely guised glare for that
last part as she waited for Alex to answer.
Alex answered and Julia asked her last question "And do you believe these
two acts are ones that are of the Light or of the Darkness, again using the
experience each one of us have in depicting right from wrong?"
After Alex answered this last question Julia walked back to the defense
table, meeting and keeping the lawyer from hell's gaze for a full moment
before reaching her table and sitting and turning toward the stand "No
further questions and we await the prosecutor's next witness."
The look she had given the goon was clear and unmistakable.
'Don't screw with me or mine or this is what happens'
It was a message for him and for the Soulchaser to report back to the dick
downstairs aka hell.
She folded her hands and waited for the next 'witness' to be called, gaze
straight ahead and filled with steely determination.
Jimmy leaned toward Nick and whispered "I'm glad she's on our side. Damn."
