"Why? Nick Boyle was neither dead nor a damned soul. What did you hope to gain with 
trying to take it?"

This would be hard to rationalize.  "Think of it as a hostage exchange," Soulchaser 
began.  "The easiest way for a damned soul to be pardoned from hell is to get someone 
else to take it's place.  I've made the deal a few times before."

"As for Nick," he said, looking over at him.  "I communicated with hell concerning who 
the most suitable substitute.  His name came up."
