Does anyone happen to know the behavior of ntpd in conjunction with pools and/or other name-based timing sources? For example:
- A DNS-based hostname is used with a server directive and the underlying DNS infrastructure is altered to reflect a change in the IP of the source. - A DNS pool (being used by the pool directive) has members added or removed per normal lifecycle of the underlying devices. Does NTP periodically re-resolve hosts that are referred-to by hostname or is it an IP lookup at start-time only? If it DOES resolve the host IPs periodically, is it intelligent enough to use something like DNS TTL to know WHEN to refresh?
