Maybe it is simply too early in the morning for me to get your point, but what insight are you looking for, exactly? You already found out that localhost does not necessarily resolve to 127.0.0.1 if both IPv4 and IPv6 are used. That's not a problem. If you do need to make the distinction, you can be explicit by using either [127.0.0.1] or [::1] in your settings.
