I didn't relize the amount of reconfiguration of postfix, dspam,
procmail, and dovecot this would take and this is just to add SRS.
Or: if you have dovecot working, you could stop forwarding mail to
elsewhere to avoid the deep issues intrinsic to forwarding. Just use
dovecot for your IMAP server. Keep your mail on your server.
This is what I would like to do, I just wish I could convince everyone
else.
Along with some small changes in DNS. Although, since I don't own
the IP it is kinda a large problem.
Yes. If you are unable to do your own reverse DNS and cannot persuade
your ISP to set a proper PTR record, you cannot run a mail server
successfully.
In the past I could just go to the data center's website and add
reverse dns. Now, it's a trouble ticket and then maybe they do
something, or maybe not.
I may try using relayhost, I have a VM that has postfix setup on it.
This is where I wonder what is the best practice.
From my main.cf:
myhostname = sequoia.teisprint.com
mydomain = teisprint.com
But is this correct?
That's perfect.
I would think then I would want the reverse dns to be:
sequoia.teisprint.com
That would be a bit more obvious but either name should work as long as
the name resolves to the IP and the IP resolves to the name.
BUT, it looks like you've handled that part today, if I'm
interpreting DNS properly.
I may need to find someone who understands the postfix config better
than I do to make these changes. Does anyone know where I can find a
consultant?
I expect one or more users here may answer this privately.
I thought that too, but no one has emailed me directly.
Not all responses here are rapid.
