An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop.rockymountains.net', Server: 'smtp.rockymountains.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 ', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67 port 25 gives the same thing. > > also, when you use telnet, what's shown with the 421 code? is there any > text after it? Only running Avast, no firewall or anyother security programs, can't stand gooking up Windoze any more than it is! > > can you disable avast firewall (if any) and try again? When I disable avast outgoing mail scanning (per Evan Platt, thanks!) everything works. > > > anyway, your problem doesn't look like a postfix issue. you'll get more > help on avast or other forums/list/... I believe avast is triggering postfix's concurrent limiting, because I get the 421 error from the postfix server, not avast. When avast sends a 421 error, it looks different. > > > if it's an avast concurrent limit thing, you may want to look at: > > https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=570 > > https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=345&nav=0,65 > I had read these posts while searching for a solution prior to posting here. > > good luck... > >>[snip] > Thanks, sometimes it's better to be lucky than skilled! I keep hoping one of the big guys on this list will point out some stupid mistake I've made. Joseph Conrad
