Did not come back for a while, hoping Wietse will reply. Wietse, please comment, don't you think that a public repo, showing each source code change would be useful for Postfix? An issue reporting system too? You probably have a private source code repo and an issue tracker (cos otherwise maintenance of the project would be difficult), but why not make it public?
