There are many like it, but this one is mine.
The forum software (phpBB) doesn’t seem to have that capability. I do have a mechanism that requires users to re-verify their e-mail address (clicking any link in a notification e-mail also does this) or else the account is deactivated, but until that takes effect these messages will still be sent, and I can’t make the window too narrow or it’d be disruptive to my users. I of course require e-mail validation during registration, but this doesn’t help in cases where a user’s e-mail account has become inactive or been closed afterwards, hence the extra step. It also doesn’t stop the constant stream of spambot accounts registering with fake e-mail addresses, or even just users who get their own address wrong. I’m not wilfully sending invalid messages all over the place, but I can’t help the ones that are sent right now (not without a large forum addition I don’t have nearly enough time for right now) so I’d like to limit the impact this has if I can.
