Last month I installed 8.1 (via 8.0) on my 1400 and have been very happy
with it.  I notice that you said 8.0 - 8.1, in case you weren't aware, is a
free upgrade that you can find on the Apple site, either as one big
download, or as parts.  It's my understanding that the upgrade is well
worth the download time.  In any case, it all works great on my 1400.
