I have a couple of PowerBook 500 laptops here, and I don't have any batteries for them. According to the service manual, the batteries are supposed to output 10.8 volts. If my math is right, that means exactly nine 1.2 volt rechargeable AAs.
Would it be feasible to fabricate a battery holder case to fit the slot on the PowerBook and then fill it with high-capacity NiMH batteries? I'm not convinced that nine batteries can even fit in that slot. Any help here? Oh, and I hear that the batteries are the "intelligent" kind-- would that post a problem when replacing with "dumb" battery rebuild packs?
