Your knowledge differs with what many of us (PowerBook 3400c owners) have reported in 
numerous previous threads on this List that it is indeed CardBus-capable.  I 
personally have used a MacAlly USB Card and a Belkin Busport USB Card successfully on 
three PowerBooks 3400c's, one with MCE CardBus-enablement and two without.
