Hello: Here are my thoughts:
Those PowerComputing machines are simply Macintoshes. They use slightly modified motherboard designs. Therefore, your problems are related to the custom software and hardware peripherals that PowerComputing used. 1. The hard disks were probably formatted with Hard Disk Toolkit, and various incarnations of that software will probably give you incompatibility headaches. My first order of business when working on these machines is to boot up from a real MacOS 8.6 CD and reformat the hard drive with Apple's Drive Setup. Yes, this will mean backing up any critical data. But it will also remove any old hard disk and CD drivers. This is good. 2. Once installed, things should all be working fine except for the CD-ROM drive. The CD unit is not supported by the newer Apple drivers. Just remove the Apple CD-ROM extension and replace it with the 7.6 version. I have this if you need it. You should now be good to go...now install the cache software for your G3 card. The only extension I've found to cause a serious conflict with PowerComputing clones is Apple Photo Access. For whatever reason this causes the computer to freeze when inserting PC-formatted floppies. Just toss out that extension. Hope this info helps. (Just curious...are you thinking of selling any of the PowerCenter Pros?) James > I have no experience with these clones.
