still connected - something happens during sending, meaning the pop account is still open and not closing.
did you ever try having email getting send 'immediately'? (preferences). it will then not get put into the out-tray (like you describe), waiting for you to manually trigger the send but the moment you hit the 'send' button in the message itself. ---marlyse
