This workaround requires performing a batch find & replace operation on
multiple files (as you may have tens or hundreds mail folders), using a
regular expression (aka grep). TextWrangler can do this and is free.

AFAIK, Mail does not export its database.

As I said, the "Status" header is not a standard one, and is probably
used for the status on the server. There is no standard I know for the
local status in a mailbox file.
