1. How frequently do you calibrate your Portacount device?
Annually
Why?
TSI recommends that the PortaCount® Pro Respirator Fit Tester be
cleaned and recalibrated annually.
2. What is your minimum overall fit factor?
MSA Comfo II Half Face - 100
MSA Full Face Respirator – 1000
MSA Advantage Full Face - 500
Scott SCBA Advantage 2000 Respirator – 500
Scott SCBA Advantage 3000 Respirator – 500
Avon PC-50 Full Face - 500
3. Do you add margin to your minimum overall fit factor in the event that
the Portacount as-found condition is outside the vendor tolerance?
No
If so, what is the margin?
4. What actions do you take if your Portacount device as-found condition
is outside the ±15% vendor standard tolerance?
We haven’t had that problem, but if we did; We have the resources and ability
to print a list of all personnel fit tested with a particular machine during
A particular time period and we would recall them to be refit tested on a
different PortaCount.

Seabrook Station recently sent a Portacount respirator fit test device to the
vendor for calibration and it was found to be out of the vendor’s standard
tolerance of ±15%. So, we are benchmarking to understand how others maintain
Portacount devices and are asking if you would please answer 4-benchmark
questions?
