I noted with interest that sometimes after a card has been out for a time, cards are redisigned and fans are replaced with head sinks. I bought a new ATI card with a fan soon after it's release. I bought the same card for another system a year later (after it had moved considerably down the product line) and found the card significantly smaller with no fan. I was very pleased...one less thing to go wrong.
