Actually, not. What you describe is susbscribing to the e-mail
echo associated with the Yahoo! group, as I am. But the Yahoo!
group membership is for a web based reader, which wants you
to log in, and sets all kinds of DoubleClick cookies.

I'm not a member of any Yahoo! group, partly because of all
the tracking they do via cookies, and also because of the
horrible Horrible HORRIBLE web interface they use.

However, the e-mail echo may be what John was talking about,
anyway.
