THE WEEKEND NEWSLETTER
AMERICA'S NEWSCHANNEL MSNBC
Saturday December 7, 2002- Sunday December 8, 2002

More than a decade after the Gulf War, Baghdad is once again headline news. This
SUNDAY at 8pm ET, we premiere NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER'S: BACK TO BAGHDAD.
Veteran war correspondent Peter Arnett, who was in Iraq in 1991 at the height of the
U.S. bombings, returns to Baghdad to present an insightful look at a land we hardly
know. His investigation reveals how life has changed since the Gulf War. In his
first report for National Geographic, Arnett sits down with Tariq Aziz, deputy Prime
Minister of Iraq and the President's loyal foreign policy advisor for more than 20
years. Arnett says his "mission going back to Iraq this time was basically to see
how stable the Saddam Hussein administration was. Is Saddam really still in
charge.what about the people of Iraq? Is there any way of determining their solidarity
with Saddam, their loyalty?" We hope you'll join us for this special and timely
program.
