MSNBC SPECIAL: TIME & AGAIN-REMEMBERING BOB HOPE
Bob Hope was serious about making people laugh. He worked hard at it.. maybe harder
than any comedian who ever lived. For the better part of the twentieth century.. even
into the twenty- first.. Hope seemed eternal. He mastered every medium of
entertainment that came along: vaudeville.. Broadway.. radio.. motion pictures..
television.. his shows were a fixture on NBC for decades.. and live performances
around the world.. tirelessly entertaining American troops far from home for half a
century. He was a pal to one president after another.. all of them eager to be in HIS
company. He made a fortune.. from entertaining, shrewd business deals and real estate.
But he never stopped working.. never stopped going for the next laugh.. until well
into his nineties. It often seemed he would go on forever. He certainly tried to. But
even Hope couldn't pull that off. Join Jane Pauley for this special edition of Time
and Again: Remembering Bob Hope.

Stateville Correctional Center is a maximum-security facility located forty-five
