Paul,

Thanks for your comments.

I sent you a separate email, then realized you cc'd the entire alias, so
I'm responding to the alias also.

The information for adding a network printer by using
Solaris Print Manager is in the docs. Try searching
for Solaris Print Manager rather than the printmgr
command itself.

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2380/printsetup-30?a=view

Instructions for adding a network printer by using Solaris Print Manager,
as well as how to set printer definitions, use PPD files, etc.,
are all in the docs. Check the printer setup and printer admin
chapters.

A new printing guide will be published in SXDE 1/08,
where more up-to-date printing tasks are documented. We've
also addressed some of the structural issues, so hopefully it
will be easier to find information in the guide.

For a preview, check out the Open Solaris Printing site under the
documentation
link.

Keeping up with what's going on with printing
is a work in progress, and there's always room for improvement, so
I welcome comments suggestions, as long as they are specific.
This type of criticism is always more helpful than
general statements about the documentation being bad. : )
So, thanks for explaining what you were having problems finding
and what information you were looking for. We'll continue to try to make
improvements in this area.

Thanks again,

Nita
