Bernadette, what does 'died' mean--do you mean the whole thing just went out like a light, or the hard disk span down, or what? Presumably you have something on the screen from what you say below? > 1. I ran the Hardware Test CD, and it said everything was fine. > > 2. I have tried Command S. Do you mean you ran fsck -y; if you did, did it say that the disk appeard to be OK? > 3. Zapping PRAM > > 4. Installing OS X install CD > > 5. Installing OS 9 install CD > > 6. Installing restore OS X CDs. Sorry for all the questions, but do you mean you re-installed OS X and OS 9, or just booted from the CDs? Have you tried booting from the OS X CD and running Disk Utility (from the menu bar, not the installer pane)? It's a way of running a whole set of tests that fsck is a subset of. You can also choose to 'repair permissions' while you're there, which can't hurt. > But whatever I try I cannot see my hard disk. Can you do anything with the machine--for instance, is the Dock visible and does it work--can you launch any applications? -- best wishes Paul http://www.paulbradforth.com =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
