Pram zaps takes care of NVRAM and is done as it has always been done. It is
essential for any hardware changes. PCI cards, memory, sometimes even port
connections. If you login in verbose, you'll see the load order of com port
connections, and their validity.
Permissions rebuilds is a purification method of file or package contents
gone astray.
FSCK -Y is FileSystemCheck directory. Best run after problems start.
DiscWarrior is essential kit as it was before. Soon to have a MacOsX boot
disc available.
Cron tasks automatically or by UI scripts such as MacJanitor that can be run
manually at decent hours. If not if the system is set to not sleep, CRON
does this after midnight.
Norton is no longer required for OSX , in fact can cause irreparable damage.
I hear that Drive10 is good though and can be used. There maybe some
hardware checks that could be done over and above that of the
aforementioned.
