calibration is an internal process, it either does it or it doesn't,
it's a good scanner, I suspect it does.

I'm not sure that works well at all, for me it was pretty dismal, but
since S-Fast is SO complex maybe a lack of familiarity spoiled my test.

I do not favour much image correction in a scanner interface, so prefer
simple scan SW. High bit data to Photoshop via a robust device profile
is the way for me. Then use the familiar tools.

Vuescan is a good application for this purpose.

actually an icc scanner profile doesn't alter the scanner
characteristics, rather defines them. - a <characterisation> if you
will.

I don't for that very reason, too much complexity - and the cost.

sure can profile it, As I understand it scanners normally self
calibrate to black and white on each scan, Silverfast and Vuescan are
not part of this AFAIK.
