Paul & Tim: Thanks for the replies, most informative I won't be shooting tethered, all location. I will be getting the new 12-24, which is supposed to be available in July, and possibly the 24-85 afs g. I will retain my current AF ED70-300 f4-5.6D. I also have an older non D 50mm 1.8 AF which I hope will work, and a very plasticky AF35-80 f4-5.6D which I expect to get rid of
