I thought 2100 owners might like to see the method I use to save ink/money
on Epson cartridges after being appalled by the amount of ink left when
the 'intelligent' chip reads it as empty.

1. When the 'intellidge' chip prompts the appropriate light to blink warning
of low ink - ignore it.
2. The printer will finally refuse to work and the red light of the 'empty'
cartridge stays on steady.
3. Remove the cartridge and reprogramme it with a universal chip re-setter
(I got mine for £12 from www.jrinkjet.com) and replace it.
4. The printer will go through a cycle and the re-chipped cartridge will
show full in the Status Monitor.
5. Make a note of the cartridge(s) that's been 'programmed' full.
6. Keep an eye on the Status Monitor and when it shows the programmed
cartridge half full replace with a new one.

Epson says the extra ink is to keep up a set pressure within the cartridge -
this is obviously b*****s as the printer keeps on working with no problems
whatsoever. I once forgot to check on ink levels when doing a big print run
and the black ran out completely, (when this happened the Status Monitor was
showing 1/4 full), after inserting a new cartridge, the printer went through
a cycle and the very first print out was perfect!
With cartridges costing £9.50+ each you save 50% - this amounts to a saving
of £33.25+ per full inkset.
