Hi, There is a free utility "SSC Service Utility for Epson Stylus Printers " http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml It reset the cartridge without remove it and other utilities like chose a individual color to make a clean cycle . It is very useful for printer like 1290 to clean only the color that clog and don�t waste others. It only work with windows but I have make it work with virtual PC. Hope this help
