It's set to P'shop CS - when I dbl click I get the 'expanding outline'
effect but nothing else - so it's apparently beginning the opening
process. If I set it to open with Image Ready CS or PS7 or anything
sensible then it works fine, it's only a problem with CS.

CS works off another drive with 10.3.2 so that's not it. I think there's
something funny with this drive.

But I've now found a few other anomalies in the OS -  I can't boot off
any CDs (except system installers) or into single user from my main HD
though all seems OK from a spare system on another drive. Current plan is
to make a disk image of my startup, erase, format & restore to make sure
there's nothing silly about the formatting. If that fails I'll make a new
startup on another drive & (pain) reinstall all the software to that then
erase the old one & use for data...
