Out of interest, Philip, why are you scanning the photos and not the originals? Or, if they are too big, could they not be photographed digitally? The fewer stages there are in this, the better the reproduction will be.

some of the work is no longer in the hands of the artist but she has nice 4/5" transps
I am getting her to purchase an A3 flatbed scanner for other work (the paper base and texture still applies here too)
appreciate any recomendations
(no buget to purchase a real pro scanner in this instance)
some of the work is too large to fit even an A3 scanner but stitching the files should not be too hard if the scanner is fairly consisten
