It probably will if you use a longer bolt and drill the hole through a cork
- one of those nice plastic/rubber ones would do.

I also found the bulbous end of a Champaign cork works particularly well in
replacing the plastic cover on a spike of a fairly hefty tripod. So well in
fact, I never bothered to get a replacement.

Are there any other tricks/tips that were possibly common knowledge in the
pre-digital era that people have found to have new application in Digital
work?
