Not a *dumb* question, but we probably have different interests in EXIF :-)

In our studio we can use metadata to do some interesting stuff. Queue images
for different processes in a workflow, storing job ticket and billing
information, comments about problems & enhancements etc etc.

It's in our interests to strip all of this information out before we deliver
the final image - as we could easily give away detailed information about
Photoshop edits and workflow transformation to a competitor!
