For backup and safety, there are two sides to the coin: Mirroring is nice and automatic and one never forgets to do it. If a folder is deleted by mistake it is gone on both drives. If it is not noticed at once and recovered, it will be gone forever. I use "Beyond Compare" to match external backup drives and it warns and shows any detected differences so I can verify what shall be done.
