Hi Neil, Thanks for taking the time for reading and commenting. First off I did at the bottom of the report state these tests were done purely for my own interest so interpret them however you will!
> The instrument and software you are measuring with when testing (and > thus making judgements using) may not be accurate. This is always the case. But for me the evidence was too convincing to consider the instrument and the software in this case the MEC to be far off. Sequel colorimeters are known to be accurate but as with all measuring instruments need to be calibrated from the factory. Im sure their QC will always work to a tolerance level and I accept this. Instruments also Change over time, but I don't think it is financially viable to send back colorimeters to manufacturers for recertification. Anyway I have two Sequel C4U01 instruments here and they both read the same. Actually one read +1 on b on first measurement then subsequent measurements were identical. If though I specified LAB values in an independent program ie Photoshop And measured this within with +/- 1 value over the three LAB channels it would be somewhat coincidental that both instruments were inaccurate, and or the software was innacurate although the values matched almost exactly! OK coincidences happen. What did confirm my confidence in the measurements Is what I measured matched exactly what I was seeing on screen in all cases. If there were instrument and software inaccuracies, it is unlikely that this innacuracy would be uniform over several vendors products. > It's going to sound as if I'm jumping to the defence of basICColor > Display software here. I'll admit I do like it, and I do resell it. I'm not out on a witch hunt for BasICColor but you must admit that this version is pretty grim to look at and it is slow. This obviously shouldn't detract as its function as a measuring tool. I just didn't get the results first time around, and that's what this test was about. > basICColor Display is in a new version, simpler, gone is the brown > screen dialogue box. A 14 day demo is available. At: > http://www.color-solutions.de/english/ I did say I would like to revisit it and try again and will do this with their latest version. > Professor Abhay Sharma has tried doing comparative tests by measurement > in his book and report - about colour tools. Thanks again and as soon as I receive more product I'll put it on the Webpage.
