In an idle moment, I compared the simultaneous display of an image with an
embedded profile by both PS and Windows Explorer (XP). They were not the
same. I also compared it to a print made from the same file on a Durst
Lambda for which I have the profile. The print and the PS display matched.

Windows is doing colour management - I proved it by removing the profile
from the image, and Windows displayed it differently - as I would have
expected.

Since the Windows (XP) colour management tab states that it is using the
same monitor profile as PS, does anyone know why Windows comes out with a
different result from PS. I could make the PS display almost the same as
the Windows display by using hue/saturation, shifting the hue slider by -7
and the lightness slider by -3.

Other than the colour management tab (accessed via settings>control
panel>display>settings>advanced>colour management) I have not found any
other way to control what Windows is doing re colour management, such as
what engine it is using or the rendering method.

A lot of people use Windows Explorer to view images, and it would be nice to
think they were seeing the images correctly.

Any thoughts?
