A lot of people use Windows Explorer to view images, and it would be nice to think they were seeing the images correctly.
Have you sent anyone a 16 bit CMYK file? On most PCs they look like an old colour negative. Repro houses using PS5 and Quark 4 (Mac as well) can't read them. Makes life very difficult when dealing with the "Oh, just email me a picture and we'll print it "brigade.
