Sure, if a client just wants quick-and-dirty, some punk kid can whip
together a Ruby-on-Rails monstronsity in a few seconds while we're
still trying to start the word processor for a spec. But the kid
vanishes in a couple of weeks to go find himself while we've found out
(surprise!) that what the client said they wanted isn't what they
need.

Youth and speed is overrated.

I agree. Many people have told me I've slowed down over the past few
years, but the reality of it, is the code I write is also far more
sensible, solid, and more in-tune with the requirements. I'm only half
of many people's age here, but the older I get, the more I appreciate
the wisdom that can only come from experience.
