I think that the one thing getting in the way of the fat client, is B2B
interactions. In the fat client model, data is behind the firewall and
secure. Now we have to open that hole for access?

I am selling the salesmanship capabilities of doing business in a more B2B
manner for my potential clients these days. Initially they say "We don't
need an internet site" I bring into the conversation how their clients are
asking for more details on what is happening, and when you play with the
1000 # gorilla, you have to do what they ask. That animal is Fed-Ex here in
the Memphis area, but you can substitute whomever in your neck of the woods.

I find that the time it takes for the phone call, gather the data, format it
properly, fax it back can take hours for my clients. Let's say that this is
all in justification for FedEx to pay the invoice!

So a company now needs a web presence to start this B2B reporting or
ordering, or finding out about a service on order. We all realize that this
isn't going to be fat client, and will only leverage data from said client.
