Ah, but considering a web app as "one solution" is misleading. What you describe sounds more like a poorly-designed web app that is not indicative of web apps in general. Just like when you hear someone claim that VFP sucks because some joker wrote a crappy app in VFP for their company once upon a time. Within Rackspace, all of our internal support and management apps are all web-based. That's really the only design that will scale as we simultaneously add customers, support techs, offices, etc. Rolling out new versions of desktop apps that have to support all sorts of devices would be prohibitive in a company that has to respond in internet time. In the late 90s I resisted the trend to web apps, because the interfaces were so godawful compared to desktop apps. That's all changed now; there are now much cleaner interfaces possible with the better Javascript toolkits than you can create in a UI toolkit such as wxPython or Gtk or KDE or any of the desktop UI toolkits. -- Ed Leafe _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/b8dc04ec-ba77-4aa3-9958-25feb9966...@leafe.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
