Thanks for eveyones input on this.

That one laptop link I posted - the Scratch & Dent HP - that looked good. But,
then I started looking at MicroCenter - since I can physically pick up the
laptop by going to the store.

I like the idea of getting one w/Win7 - instead of Win8. But, they tend to be
way older. Like this one - which doesn't mention what specific Duo-Core is in
it:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/451534/Latitude_E6400_Windows_7_Professional_14_Laptop_Computer_Refurbished_-_Black

This one looks a little better - since is Core i5 - although now its over the
$200 mark:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/444311/EliteBook_8460P_Windows_7_Professional_14_Laptop_Computer_Refurbished_-_Silver

This one looks better (it has Quad Core & a Bigger screen) than the one right
above - yet at the same price - however - it has Win8.1:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=451088

And - other have suggested to steer away from Win8 - and stick w/Win7 - and I
WOULD Like to do that. Although, I know there was mention of using a Different
Shell to make it work like Win7.

What about Downgrading from Win8 to Win7? I've heard of that as an option in
the past...

So many choices - sure makes it hard to decide!

I have the feeling you might not be alone.

One of my favorite Apple vendors, Small Dog Electronics, tells tales of all the
folks who bring in electronics for repair that, er, got wet.

Apparently, it was such a big problem that Apple has special detectors
installed deep inside their machines that will display if they got wet, to
avoid warranty coverage for user mis-use. And Small Dog started promoting an
accidental insurance policy they strongly recommend.
