Foremost, it's not an option I can consider, so I'm admittedly
prejudiced/biased.

I do remain convinced that MS is obliged to make provision for the
continuity of FoxPro applications - that is, not to take action that
kills our apps - but even in the worst case, we still have VM, so I am
feeling secure in my decision/investment/strategy. And, of course,
there's also the strong possibility that in 10 years time, new tools
will be so compellingly attract that a re-write (by someone other then
myself, however - this is my last major-language-mastery exercise) would
make sense.

Would I recommend FoxPro to others starting out right now? I guess in
keeping with this thread, I would agree that it depends on requirements,
but we all know that VFP is one-hellva-tool. I have no regrets about
deploying it, and will continue building with it for as far out as I can
practically see.

I've got a handle on the MySQL databases on the server, and it's working
out very well. I don't mind working with server side technologies - hope
I didn't give the wrong impression on that. The thing is that my main
application - that which I'm selling - is VFP. All of the other stuff
plays supporting roles.
