Not convenient at all and fairly easy to substantiate actually.

As you don't reside in the US I guess that I'll have to forgive you for 
not realizing the Bush (a) was not running in this election and (b) 
could not run for a third term even though many from the lunatic fringe 
were positive that he would do something, anything to ensure that his 
presidency continued.

Not exactly sure what you mean by living memory but, based on my guess 
of what you are implying, I can come up with at least one president that 
served during my lifetime that was worse.  Of course, that would only be 
my opinion but I figure that I'm entitled to that.
