Industry was MFG Sales Rep.

It was for determining your projected sales for a variety of inventory
items from a specific manufacturer. This was required by them, and if
you failed to submit the form you would loose this MFG from you list
of lines you carried.

I see how easily you cast blame on one company and bullshit saying
that everything non M$ is the only way to go. In this case we tried
that and killed 10 hours or so to attempt to save a friend from buying
Office. So only I lost 10 hrs and he went and bought office because
we were trying to be cheap.

So in the end just as a version change in an existing product can bite
you, so can switching to a different vendor for the same type of
product.
