Good Evening Sytze: When I was a consultant I was asked the same question except I was a bit younger...and I found a several 'things' to be true after the fact: 1. many of the companies I developed for are now out of business...I am still around... 2. many of the companies I developed for found new consultants that convinced then that FoxPro was antiquated and they should be using Access and scrap my systems As of last January my last app was scraped for a 'Quick Books' approach. BTW, that app was written in 1991 in FoxPro DOS 2.0 and later updated to 2.6. The manager told me off the record that the Fox app worked much better than QB. The reason it was scraped was it didn't interface into their general ledger. I told the manager I could have written an app that wrote JVs that the GL could process. And they did not ask my opinion hence they didn't know what another solution could be. So if I were in your boat I would not worry about it; but, if you think your clients needs will continue you could sell the source code to them on an individual basis or find a VFP developer that could maintain your code and sell them the source code. With RDP and/or an app like Log-Me-In's IT Reach and the Internet they could easily support your app and you could get the future value of all that support now. Just some ideas... Regards,

Etc etc I am the sole developer in my company There are no other vfp developers within 120 kms I am now 60 My clients are beginning to ask the question about my age, succession, etc I keep telling them I don't intend to retire and I prefer to think about winning Lotto (Which will have the same effect) Are any of you in a similar boat, and what are your plans ? -- Regards Sytze de Boer Kiss Systems Hamilton, NZ Ph: 64-7-8391670, Mob:021 937611, _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/0b957900b2b8194d998a441195b66038387fb42...@drdsrv03.drdad.thenewarkarena.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
